And the Champions Cup Goes to...
BHESA takes home the championship title at the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Cricket Match
On Saturday, June 14, 2014 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) held a cricket match to celebrate team sports in Edmonton, Alberta. Two teams gave each other a suspense-packed fight for the Champions Cup, the team of BPCA (The Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta), and the team of BHESA (The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta).
For the majority of the game Team BPCA was leading the board, but in the last moments of the game Team BHESA was able to turn fortune around and win the game by 1 run. The overall score was 104 in 19 overs for BHESA, and 103 in 20 overs for BPCA.
The event at the St. Joseph High School soccer field was well visited by many families and teenaged children, and lasted from the morning to the afternoon. The organizers supplied the hungry players and the audience with refreshments, and a traditional food of Bangladesh called Chicken Beriani.
