Alberta, Canada (May 5, 2017): The Alberta New Democrat Caucus of the parliament, in collaboration with the Provincial Assembly, a historic statement was made in recognition of the Bengali New Year by Ms. Dennis Wollard, MLA, . It was welcomed by a huge applause of the respected legislators.
Honorable Speaker of the House Robert E. Warner expressed his deep interest to the Bengali New Year.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2017 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club) organized a colorful Soccer Tournament on March 21st marking the Genocide Remembrance and Independence Day of Bangladesh at the Edmonton Killarney School premises. At the event 3 local soccer teams, the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club, Bangladesh PressClub of Alberta (BPCA) and Bangladesh Heritage Museum met to determine a winner in the tournament. BPCA and MJMF jointly won the championship by 2-2 goals in the final play.
The players of the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club are inviting the people of Edmonton to a sportive charity event in an effort to collect donations for the victims of the Fort McMurray wildfire. The sports event is organized by the MJMF Bangladesh Sports Club under the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) in assistance with the Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA).

The event took place in Giovanni Caboto Park in Edmonton, Alberta, where 2 teams gave each other a suspense-packed fight for the Champions Cup. The players for the two teams represented each an organization, the team of BPCA (Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta), and the team of MJMF (Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation).

Mahinur Jahid died in a car accident in January 2012 in the city of Lloydminster of Alberta at the age of 27.

Edmonton, January 4: A memorial meeting in honor of Mahinur Jahid was held at the premises of the Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA), organized by the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF). The 27 years young Mahinur Jahid died in a tragic car accident in the city of Lloydminster of Alberta on January 4, 2012.

Mahinur Jahid Memorial Soccer Match The Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA) takes home the championship title at the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Soccer Match. Soccer fans of the Bangladeshi community in Alberta enjoyed the championship match which was held in the scenic Town of Devon on August 16, 2014. The town was warmed up with the cheerful Bangladesh Children Festival initiated by the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) and sponsored by the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF).
